1. When is sideline cheer registration open?
Registration opens: May 8, 2024. Early registration is suggested. Registration will close when teams are full.
2. Do I have to live in Parker to be a Parker Hawks Cheerleader?
No, there are no regulations for cheerleading within AYL. So you can live in Aurora, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock or Cherry Creek and still be a Parker Hawk Cheerleader!
3. How much is the cheerleading season?
Registration is $675 per cheerleader for sideline cheer. Any girl registered and/or paid after June 1st will pay a $100 late fee. Late registrants will only be placed on teams where space is available.
Uniforms will be new. The uniform and bow and are included in your registration cost. Parents are responsible for shoes.
4. When does the season start?
The football season starts the beginning of August and will conclude after the Super Bowl early November. Practices will begin in June with our first performance during Friday Night Lights in August.
5. How many practices a week will there be?
There may be 1- 2 practices a week (weather permitting). Practices are at the coach’s discretion. Parents cannot request day/time or location of practice.
6. How long are practices?
Most practices will be 1.5 - 2 hours. Coaches will relay practice information to you at the start of the season.
7. When & where will practice be?
Practice location to be determined and will be communicated by your coach. Night of the week will be determined by field availability and age of cheerleader and will be set prior to the season starting. Field permits are requested in May for the fall season. All practices will be held in Parker.
8. Are Parker Hawks Cheerleaders participating in competitions this season?
Cheerleaders can choose to do sideline only which will not have a competition. We will also offer sideline plus competition for those interested (additional $650). There will be a tryout and registration for that later during the season. Signups for try outs will open TBD. Please see the cheer page for more information.
9. What are the age ranges for cheerleading?
Cheerleading will be open to any athlete 1st-8th grade.
10. Can I request a coach or squad?
Yes. We will try to honor as many requests as we can, however, please remember not all requests can be honored. Athletes will be placed on teams based on skill level and age.
11. Who will be my child's coach?
We rely on parent volunteers. We understand this is a large commitment, however, it is a rewarding one that you will treasure for a lifetime. Read more about what it takes to be a volunteer coach on our volunteer tab.
12. Does my child need previous cheer experience?
No, we will teach the necessary skills during the season.
13. How many football games will there be?
Games will start late August and there will be one game a week typically on Saturdays. Depending on the game schedules there may be a "bye" week. Games will run until early November. Sideline cheer will be finished prior to Thanksgiving.
14. How do Uniform Fittings Work?
There will be uniform fittings for all athletes on June 9, 2024.
